Consultation has concluded

Great news! We have been granted an archeology permit from the province. The current playground will be removed beginning Monday, January 9 and construction of the new playground will commence Monday, January 16.

In 2021, the District of Sechelt received $300,000 from the Tourism Dependent Communities Grant for Hackett Park upgrades. These upgrades will include:

  • new mural on the outside of the washroom with vandalism-proof painted interior
  • new picnic tables
  • wildlife resistant garbage cans
  • amphitheatre seating for the new stage
  • new playground equipment.

$225,000 has been allocated to the new playground equipment, and the successful proponent was Habitat Play Systems.

Construction is expected to begin spring 2022, with an expected completion by summer 2022.
