How long have you lived in Sechelt?

While residents in Sechelt receive most of their municipal services from the District of Sechelt, some services are provided by the SCRD or province. How familiar are you with who provides services?

For example, the SCRD provides water, transit and major recreational facilities, the District of Sechelt is responsible for most other services, the province is responsible for water and HWY 101, and the province and feds are responsible for the court system.

RCMP Contract Policing services within the District are contracted out to the RCMP. Currently the District budgets for 13 members (police officers) at a total cost of approximately $1.8 million in 2022/23. General duty officers are deployed at peak hours to address continual increases in calls for service and proactively address known problem areas.

Each additional officer costs approximately $143,300 (salary, vehicle, equipment, training, office space, etc.).
